Most foreign clients arrive with one of three questions: who is legally allowed to notarise in Thailand, whether the attorney works in English, and how quickly a document can be ready. Thailand has no separate notary profession — the act is performed by a Thai lawyer registered as a Notarial Services Attorney with the Lawyers Council of Thailand, and that registration is what a receiving authority abroad ultimately checks.

2) Notarial acts
A notarial act is defined by what the attorney attests to, not by the document itself. Certifying a true copy attests that the copy matches an original shown to the attorney; witnessing a signature attests that the named person signed in front of them; an oath or affidavit adds a sworn declaration. Choosing the correct act matters, because an embassy that expects a sworn affidavit will reject a plain certified copy.
Personal and family paperwork is the most common reason expats need a notary in Thailand — marriage and divorce records for spouse visas, single-status certificates, parental consent for a child travelling alone, and academic records for study abroad. Thai-issued civil records are normally translated first, then notarised, then legalised, so the translation quality decides whether the whole chain passes.

4) Business, corporate & property
Corporate work usually involves signing authority rather than identity: a board resolution, a power of attorney for an overseas subsidiary, or share-transfer documents. The attorney checks that the signatory is the person named and that they hold authority under the company affidavit, which is why we ask for the DBD company affidavit alongside the passport.

5) Cities & Bangkok BTS/MRT areas
Our staffed offices are in Bangkok, Khon Kaen and Udon Thani; elsewhere in Thailand we work by courier plus an agreed meeting point, which for most documents is just as fast because the notarial act takes 15–30 minutes once the signer and ID are present.
Pricing is per notarial act, quoted on request depending on document complexity and whether certified translation is bundled. MFA legalisation and embassy fees are separate government charges and are quoted at cost. You receive a written quote before any work starts.

7) Visa · embassy · cross-border
The reason for notarising decides the chain. A document staying inside Thailand often stops at the notarial act; anything going abroad continues to the Department of Consular Affairs and then to the destination embassy in Bangkok. Confirm the destination authority's exact requirement before starting — requirements differ by country and occasionally by consulate.
Is Thailand part of the Hague Apostille Convention?
Not yet. Documents notarised in Thailand must be legalised at the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and then at the destination-country embassy in Bangkok. We handle the full chain in one workflow.
Who can act as a Notary Public in Thailand?
Only Thai-licensed attorneys who have completed the Lawyers Council of Thailand’s ‘Notarial Services Attorney’ course and hold a valid NSA registration. Every attorney on our roster is verifiable at lawyerscouncil.or.th.
Do I need to visit in person?
For signature authentication, oaths and affidavits — yes, the signer must appear before the attorney (Thai and international standards). For certified true copies or corporate document certification we can accept documents by courier.
How long does notarisation take?
The notarial act itself is 15–30 minutes. Full turnaround including preparation, translation review and MFA legalisation is typically 1–3 business days; embassy legalisation adds each embassy’s own SLA.
What ID do foreigners need to bring?
Passport (original + photocopy of the bio page and the current Thai entry stamp / TM.6 / TM.30 if applicable). For corporate signatories, add board resolution or POA proving signing authority.
How much does a notary cost?
quoted on request per notarial act depending on document complexity and whether translation is bundled. Full quote is confirmed in writing before we start — no hidden add-ons.
Can you help with the whole legalisation chain?
Yes. One team handles Notary → Certified Translation → MFA legalisation → Embassy legalisation, so you receive an embassy-ready document instead of managing three separate vendors.
