How do I apostille a Thai Thai ID Card for Malta?
NAATI Thailand handles the full Thai-Apostille workflow for the Thai ID Card destined for Malta 🇲🇹: (1) certified translation by a registered translator into English, (2) Notary Public certification of the translator's signature, (3) MFA legalization at the Department of Consular Affairs (Chaeng Watthana). Thailand deposited its instrument of accession to the Hague Apostille Convention on 30 June 2026, with entry into force for Thailand on 28 February 2027, until then, embassy legalisation may still be required for Malta — confirm the current chain with the receiving authority. Package quoted on request, turnaround 7 วันทำการ. Scan-first via LINE @NAATI from anywhere in Thailand or overseas.

Thai ID Card Apostille for Malta — end-to-end workflow
NAATI Thailand operates a dedicated Apostille desk for the Thai Thai ID Card (issued by District Office), with end-to-end delivery to Malta 🇲🇹. We translate, notarise and walk the file through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Chaeng Watthana under one job number — the workflow most consulates, universities and immigration officers in Malta expect to see.
Why Apostille (not Embassy Legalisation) for Malta — Thailand deposited its instrument of accession to the Hague Apostille Convention on 30 June 2026, with entry into force for Thailand on 28 February 2027. Malta is a Hague member, which means a single Thai MFA legalization stamp replaces the previous Embassy-of-Malta legalisation step. The chain is shorter, the cost is lower, and the apostille is internationally verifiable from a register number.
Certified translation requirement — Receiving authorities in Malta require the Thai ID Card in English. The translation must be performed by a Notarised + Apostille. We allocate the job to a senior translator with at least 8 years of certified-translation experience; the file is bilingually proofread by a second linguist before notarisation.
Document preparation before MFA — คัดสำเนาบัตรประชาชนรับรองโดยอำเภอ + แปล + Notary. ตัวบัตรเองไม่สามารถ Apostille ได้ — ใช้สำเนาที่อำเภอรับรอง. We confirm the romanised spelling of your name against your passport bio-page in writing before drafting, so the apostilled translation matches every other Malta-side filing (visa, civil registry, university, professional council).
Typical use cases in Malta — พิสูจน์ตัวตนต่างประเทศ; เปิดบริษัทต่างประเทศ; Marriage Registration; Spouse Visa; Student Visa; Work Permit. We have routed Thai ID Card apostille files to Malta for partner / family visas, study, work permits, marriage registration, citizenship by descent, civil-status updates, and corporate / banking matters.
Why receiving authorities accept our package — Each apostilled bundle leaves our chambers with: original Thai document (or certified true copy), certified English translation on letterhead with translator's signature and stamp, Notary Public seal certifying the translator's signature, MFA legalization on the translation (and original where required), and a numbered certificate of accuracy. This is the exact stack Malta consulates, civil registries and the receiving authority routinely accept.
Working tips for Malta-bound clients — Send the sharpest scan you can (300 dpi or better, all four corners visible). Tell us the receiving authority by name so we can pick the correct certification template. Allow 7 วันทำการ for the full chain. If you need an apostilled hard-copy delivered overseas, request DHL on intake and we will bundle the courier into the quote.
