What is a Notarized Life Certificate / Proof of Life in Thailand?
A notarized Life Certificate / Proof of Life in Thailand is a private legal instrument signed before a Notarial Services Attorney — a Thai-licensed lawyer registered with the Lawyers Council of Thailand under the Notarial Services Attorney Regulation B.E. 2546 (2003). Unlike civil-law countries that use government notaries, Thailand delegates notarial functions to specially trained attorneys, whose seal and signature are recognised by Thai authorities, foreign embassies, and apostille-issuing offices around the world.
For ผู้รับบำนาญต่างประเทศ (ญี่ปุ่น/เยอรมนี/อังกฤษ/ออสเตรเลีย); ผู้รับสิทธิ์มรดก; ผู้ถือกรมธรรม์ประกันอายุระยะยาว, a properly executed Life Certificate / Proof of Life is the gateway document to nearly every cross-border transaction. Whether you are submitting paperwork to Japan Pension Service, Deutsche Rentenversicherung, DWP UK, Centrelink Australia, Social Security USA, the notarial seal is the single piece of evidence that proves your signature is genuine, that you appeared in person, and that you understood the document's contents at the time of signing. Without this seal, foreign authorities will reject your file outright.
NAATI Thailand has been providing notarisation services for English-speaking residents and visitors in Chiang Mai Province, Thailand since 2014. Our notarial attorneys hold continuous Lawyers Council registration, carry professional indemnity insurance up to quoted on request per matter, and maintain bilingual workflows so that every certificate, oath, affirmation, or acknowledgment is drafted in plain English alongside Thai — eliminating translation ambiguity downstream.

Chiang Mai Province (Thai: เชียงใหม่) is served through scan-first intake: clients courier originals or sign at our Bangkok chambers, then we return the executed bundle by EMS / Kerry / Flash within 1–2 business days. This local context matters because notarial documents executed in Thailand must show a clear chain of custody: who signed, where they signed, on what date, and before which attorney. Foreign authorities frequently request the attorney's bar number and chamber address, and our standard cover letter includes all of these particulars in English to streamline processing at the receiving end.

We track current acceptance criteria for each authority on a quarterly basis, so you do not need to research formatting rules yourself — we apply the correct wording, witness requirements, and apostille routing automatically based on the destination you specify.
