Immigration New Zealand (INZ) เป็นหน่วยงานหลักภายใต้ Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) ที่ดูแลการตรวจคนเข้าเมืองทั้งหมด ตั้งแต่ visitor, student, work, residence ไปจนถึง citizenship Operational Manual ของ INZ ระบุไว้ใน E5.10 และ A5.5 ว่า เอกสารที่ไม่ใช่ภาษาอังกฤษต้อง 'be accompanied by a translation provided by a translator who is a member of, or accredited by, a recognised national translation body'
NZSTI (New Zealand Society of Translators and Interpreters) คือหน่วยงานภายในประเทศ แต่ INZ ระบุชัดเจนว่า NAATI ของออสเตรเลียได้รับการยอมรับเทียบเท่ากันโดยตรง เพราะ NZ และ AU ใช้มาตรฐาน Trans-Tasman ในหลายด้าน รวมถึงการรับรองวิชาชีพแปลภาษา ผ่านข้อตกลง CER (Closer Economic Relations)
