China (PRC) is not a member of the Hague Apostille Convention. Documents from China (PRC) that need to be used in Thailand must go through a multi-step legalization chain: notarization, foreign Ministry of Foreign Affairs authentication, Royal Thai Embassy attestation, and finally translation + Thai MFA endorsement once the documents arrive in Thailand. Note: As of November 7, 2023, China joined the Hague Apostille Convention. However, for documents originating in mainland China to be used in Thailand, both countries' implementation timelines should be checked. Many Thai government offices still prefer the traditional embassy chain for Chinese documents — confirm with us before starting.

- Skipping the Royal Thai Embassy attestation in China (PRC) — Thai MFA cannot endorse without it
- Wrong order of stamps — must be Notary → Foreign MFA → Thai Embassy, never reversed
- Translating before all foreign stamps are complete — translation must cover every page including stamps
- Using uncertified translator in Thailand — district offices reject non-MOJ translations
- Letting the embassy attestation age beyond 6 months for marriage registration
